Welcome all to Merveilles Utah!

Welcome all to Merveilles Utah, dancers, drummers and singers alike! We are excited to have another opportunity to bring the best of the best to the Rocky Mountains! The African dance and drum community can boast a legacy of 18+ years of activity. Starting with Kim Strunk who created the first African dance class in Utah, along with Mama Mabiba. From there, Jeni Indresano and Kim Strunk led our community in West African and Congolese dance. We have had the pleasure of many guest artists to work with over the years with various workshops and artist residencies. Currently we offer community dance class every Saturday at the Rose Wagner Theatre 10:30 -12 taught by Rosie Banchero.
We also have a thriving drum community driven initially by Jeff Wax and Fred Simpson. If your desire is to learn West African drumming, Quinn Reesor is your man. He offers djembe and dunun classes from the beginner to the advanced. You can find him on facebook for more details. If Congolese drumming captures your heart, our very own Kaz Speirs can guide you! Kaz teaches Congolese drumming and song as well as West African Drumming. Looking for a high end drum maker? Check out Kaz’s website Kazdrums.com.
We look forward to our first conference with an all star lineup. I hope you can all make it and help us spread the word!
